If you want a summarized plot that moves along, and don't really care about characters, this one's for you

Positioned nicely to create a successful 1632 spinoff.

Stereotypical start and quite predictable. However, the integration of modern technology with the matrilineal model of local societies and incipient political processes are beginning to drive the storyline nicely. It should have enough staying power to enable this 1632 sub-series to evolve nicely.

Continues the canon nicely through a chaotic Russian political scenario. Despite the cast of characters list, its multiplicity and critical absences made this a slow and difficult book to read, almost, negating a good storyline.½

There just is no telling how many multiverses they set up with the Ring of Fires. This one has a cruise ship transported to the Mediterranean around 321BC. People there are no different. They are attempting to influence the Greek cradle of civilization.

Some very interesting characters in even more interesting times. Written in rather a staccato fashion that can be disconcerting to read but still a good story.

A 21th century cruise ship sent back to the time shortly after the death of Alexander the Great. (Maybe 3.5 stars). There was some interesting technological and political speculation, but also what seemed to be a grafted-on anti-slavery/pro-liberty message, which wasn’t particularly well motivated but was sort of a plot element. Overall decent but not amazing.

Some good new characters slip into the Sherlockian Canon. A female bar girl and illiterate as well, why not? The skillset is there all she needs is the vocabulary. And by the way, her Watson is an engineer.

Excellent fiction with all three entries at that level. Schools were clearly for the clergy and the nobility in this era. Two serials and Time Spike very good.½

Very good fiction, non-fiction quite interesting, Serials excellent and Bumped was a very good adjunct. The column explores the politics of the SF world. Best issue of GG to date.½

Mostly good fiction; Capital, Ode and Government stand out. Strange but interesting non-fiction. Opposing Pam is clearly detrimental for your health; with her 12 and counting notches on her guns, knives and the occasional blunt instrument as she brings the law to the West, I mean East. Life is progressing nicely in Ein Feste as Max visits her doctor.½
