I didn't like this collection of essays by Josh Gondelman as much as I enjoy listening to Josh Gondelman on various podcasts. So, I was a little disappointed. But he has some good points (being nice doesn't necessarily make you good, for one), and some of the essays were better than others. Some of the time I found myself thinking, "Why should I care?" Weirdly, the thing that I most relate to and that made me laugh out loud is the notion that he practices "food-based acts of affection." I have been both the provider of and recipient of too many such acts.… (plus d'informations)

A book by a comedian who, unlike so many others of his profession, does not seem bitter, depressed, or mean. In fact, he does seem genuinely nice. And that (and his gentle funny stories) makes this book thoroughly original. I read it in one sitting and recommend it to anyone who wants to be reminded that sometimes people find success without being utter jerks.
