Wicked Hunger is the story of Van and Zander, brother and sister, part of a cursed family. Some people inflame the hunger of the siblings and the only way to sate the craving is to feed off of violence and pain. This causes Zander to push everyone away while Van desires closeness with friends.

I struggled to get through the first third of the book since there seemed mostly to be teenage angst on overload that was only heightened by the curse. However, as the mystery of their condition became more pronounced, more was discovered about the mysterious new girl, Ivy, and the relationships grew deeper, I couldn't put it down.

I felt that there were some similarities to the Twilight series (uncontrollable hunger for certain people, struggle to not hurt that person, first love). But there is more to unravel, since this is the first in the series, and the siblings don't even know what more they can do or be and that there may be ways to control their craving for destruction. I plan to read the next title, Wicked Power (I think) to see how this series progresses.½

I only got though 1/4 of this book before I gave up. The wiring was good, but I just didn't grasp it.

Good suspenseful and entertaining it is nice and creative and very unique. I couldn't put it down if I had tried. I love a story that I can fall into and enjoy. This is the case with this book! An easy to follow and love the book with characters you come to care for. All too often people forget to stop and pretend for a while. This is a great world to escape into at any time.

I am a sucker for sci-fi and fantasy, I admit it. It's just so much fun to be able to imagine the limitless worlds that authors build, the battles, the relationships between characters, the magic... everything. The main character was very likeable, and to be completely honest, I really felt for all the characters. The author allowed me to have a real connection with them, which is rare for me.

If you want a book that sticks to the sci-fi and fantasy genre that you love, all while doing something completely new and different with it, this is the perfect book for you.

Review of Wicked Hunger

Rating 5 stars

The story is told through the eyes of Van and Zander a brother and sister, suffering from a curse handed down from their parents, we watch as both of them struggle with the understanding of what they really are.

I loved this book Zander was a complex character at first I felt I had him all figured out, he dealt with the curse better than Van well that’s how I felt at the start of the story. I thought his logic to not get attached and stay away from others was good. The so called cursed gave them urges to often kill or inflict pain on others, it didn’t happen to everyone around them, just some people seemed to arouse the hunger for pain or death in them. Even though Van and Zander both had the same curse they were still unique in different ways, Zander wanted death to be fast and Van liked to cause the most suffering. It was odd as both where not the hero’s, I felt I was seeing a Villain from a humane side that allowed me to understand the everyday struggle of not killing people.

With Van she won’t let go she doesn’t isolate herself but keeps her friends close and a love interest which makes the story really good, there is a love triangle for a while between Van, Noah and Ketchup but in my opinion there is no triangle because I can see where her heart is, and I truly hope she follows it. I can’t wait for the next instalment as wicked hungry just set the stage for what’s to come. I can’t wait to understand the curse fully, and see what secrets have been kept from Zander and Van. I hope we see a lot more of Ketchup also as he was a very likeable character.

The plot was not as simple as I thought at first it has layers upon layers, and I can’t wait to peel back every layer to see what lies beneath.

It’s another fantastic book from Author DelSheree Gladden and I am a huge fan.

Review of Inquest (Part one in the destroyer Trilogy) Author Del Sheree Gladden

I rated this book with five stars

I was given this book for an honest review. www.reviewoffantasy.com

I loved every second of this book and now I am a fan.

Libby a young sixteen year old anxiously awaits her inquest, to see what her talents are. In total there are seven; Speed, Strength, Perception, Spiritualism, Vision, Naturalism and Concealment. Normally you receive between one and three which is average, but Libby has known for a long time that she has all seven, which you would think would be awesome. Hmmm, no, too have all seven means you’re the destroyer a title that comes with a penalty – death.
This book got my attention from page one all the way to page 378 now I want book two. Loved Libby, I laughed at her sarcastic attitude throughout the book her optimism after losing everything was amazing.
My favourite is the love triangle between Lance her x-boyfriend and Milo the strange guy. By the end of the book she has to pick one, it’s not the end of this triangle. Don’t want to say too much or I’ll spoil it.

Overall a great read. I finished it in a day and a half but would have read it quicker only for life’s interferences (work). I cannot wait for book 2. I would like to thank the author for allowing me to review her book, I truly enjoyed every second of it.

All teenagers have secrets. But, Vanessa, who prefers to be known as Van, and her brother Zander, are two high school students with secrets that have fatal implications. For reasons they do not understand, they are subject to compulsions to hurt and kill certain people at certain times. Van runs a dance class in the evenings and Zander is the school’s star athlete, enabling both to work out some of their aggressive tendencies.
Things are going well until the arrival of Ivy. Van feels an immediate urge to hurt the girl, and so does Zander upon first meeting her. His feelings, though, quickly turn to desire, which puts him, Van and everyone around them in grave danger.
This is a novel that is hard to really put into a pigeon hole. Part horror, part fantasy, with a hint of science fiction, DelSherree Gladden’s Wicked Hunger is an electrifying tale that will cause the hairs on your body to stand on end.
Gladden is in a class by herself and you won’t be disappointed with what she has to offer – take my word on it.
