Amedeo Giorgi

I read Psychology as a Human Science in preparation for my PhD application at Duquesne University. Giorgi is certainly leveling some excellent critiques of psychology as viewed as a natural science, however, the writing and structure of the text left me feeling confused and wondering if maybe someone else has said all of this more artfully somewhere else.

Excellent analysis of Husserlian phenomenology and how to apply this as a research method in the human sciences. A kind of "applied phenomenology". Giorgi has studied phenomenology in the United States and Europe and sought to create a rigorous method for psychological phenomenological research, yet still be faithful to Husserl's ideas. His method can be applied to any discipline in the humans sciences.
