The author has gathered together the central social teachings of the popes from Leo XIII to John XXIII. These documents offer the reader a concrete and coherent statement of Catholic Social doctrine.

I probably understood only a small percent of what I read in this series of books, but I felt they were important and I wanted to read about important things.

An amazing piece of non-fiction. Fremantle truly shines in this enchanting account of turbulent times. Very well done.

I remember repeatedly checking this book out from the local library as a child, simply for the photos. I was thrilled to see it years later on a library book sale table. Photography was still impressive after all these years.½
