Women and politics demonstrates how women influenced the political process from before they could vote through about 1970. Although the author seems strongest discssing the 1920s and 1930s, the book places political women of the 1940s, 50s and 60s who were iportant to servicewomen in a historic and politic context. Valuable reference book.

Levine admits that these hierarchies exist, but asserts that they are not inevitable; unfortunately, she spills virtually no ink on the essential question of how to avoid them!
