Fitz-Gerald really brought this story to life. I got so wrapped up in the story, I almost read it in one sitting. Wanders Far was an excellent character, well-developed, and you could swear he's real. Set in the 12th century, we get a peek into life back then among Native American tribes, and you can almost feel yourself transported back in time. This was obviously well-researched, as the setting and characters were brought to life within the pages. Perfect for anyone interested in fiction based in Native American history.… (plus d'informations)

Mehitable Munsch has been given a special gift but it hasn't always offered her pleasure. At first, she just saw blurry apparitions and then, her sixteenth birthday changed her life forever. Her entire family was lost in a house fire, along with a young man who wanted to court her, and Mehitable will never be the same. The once blurry apparitions are now ghosts that she can see and she realizes that she has the ability to help them cross over and finally find peace in the afterlife.

I suppose that I'm a contradiction because I don't believe in ghosts but I've always enjoyed reading about them. I was a big fan of the television program The Ghost Whisperer and Mehitable is much like Melinda Gordon. Mehitable, however, encounters many spirits of soldiers who died during the Revolutionary War and this added an intriguing aspect to her story. Author David Fitz-Gerald is able to capture her sympathy for these tortured souls and he also vividly describes the emotional abuse that she endures from the nightly appearances of Anson Smudge's spirit. This young man, spurned by Mehitable in life, is now determined to repay her for her rejection! Can you imagine never having a peaceful night's sleep?

She Sees Ghosts is set in the Adirondacks in the early 1800s and we are shown both the beauty and the hardships of life in this area. The memorable characters, the eerie situations, and the bittersweet ending will remain with you long after you read the last page! If you enjoy historical fiction and non-stop thrills and chills, you will want to read She Sees Ghosts.

I received a copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own opinions.

This one was so good! I really enjoyed the first one, but I really really liked Mehitable’s story. Before her grandmother passed, she had warned her that Mehitbale was special and had a special ability but she did not quite understand what that meant. She is on the brink of adulthood, and the only thing that seems on everyone’s minds is finding her a mate. She doesn’t like any boys that way, and she is content with the life she has, and her studies. No need to marry off anytime soon, she isn’t ready. Even if that is the way of the world currently.

Although she is excited her her upcoming birthday party and the beginning of a New Year. A horrible tragedy strikes her family, and her life changes in an instant. Having a close friends family take her in, her special ability to see those of the spirit wold has turned into a nightmare. How will she cope with this ability, and become something of herself when this is all she can think about currently.

Mehitable can no longer sleep at night and doesn’t know what to do, when she finds out that her best friend is moving out west. Polly’s new fiancee is going to find them some land and build a homestead, and he will then be back for a wedding and to then get his new wife. Mehitable asks the inevitable, can she go with them? This might be her change to get away from her nightmare visions.

They two agree to take her with them, and are excited for the new adventure that awaits the three of them. Along the traveling path, Mehitable often sees others who are in pain, grief stricken or who appear lost. As they travel west, stories that have been past down start to come alive in front of her eyes. She realizes she needs to help these people, as they are stuck. But can she? She cannot even handle her own nightmare, how can she help others not of this living world?

Once they make it home, it seems as if her nightmare has followed her. Moving did noting but anger it even more. Then a visit from a loved one from her past gives her guidance and the mindset to fight the demon. Is she strong enough to do this, and is this demon not really who they are appearing to be?

Can she finally settle into a life out in the west with Polly and Rueben, and embrace her ability to see the other side? To give her calling in life to know what she was meant to do? Rueben and Polly are also adamant in helping her find a mate, but is she ready yet for this, as she has just seemed to find herself. An unexpected character from book one makes an appearance and brings this whole story full circle!

Thank you to David Fitz-Gerald for the free novel, and writing such a great story. I cannot wait to see where the Adirondack Spirit Series goes next. Thank you also to Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours for the invite!

Mehitable Munsch has the ability to see spirits. Growing up in a small town in Vermont, she only saw the spirits intermittently as wisps around people. However, after a tragedy on Mehitable's 16th birthday party and New Year's Eve, the spirits come for Mehitable in force. Mehitable decides to travel with her friend Polly and new husband Reuben to settle in the Adirondack Mountains. The ghost of Anson Smudge, the young man responsible for her family's death, follows Mehitable to her new home and torments her every night. Along with Anson, Mehitable has begun to see the ghosts of the many soldiers who fought throughout the region. Although, it isn't until Mehitable finds an interesting medallion that she finds her purpose with the spirits and her destiny.

She Sees Ghosts is a paranormal historical fiction taking place during the early 1800's as America was being settled and war was not too far in the past. Mehitable's journey showcases the hardships of the time along with the triumphs and tranquility that the era provided. Mehitable's character seemed ahead of her time and I loved that she was able to be her own person and choose a different route than what was expected of her. The paranormal elements weaved in slowly and sensibly as to not overwhelm the story. I did enjoy the stories of the spirits and how Mehitable was able to grow as she helped the spirits pass. The description of the setting of the Adirondack Mountains was enchanting, I have been to many of the areas and liked seeing the unspoiled areas through Mehitable's eyes. I'm glad that Mehitable was able to have a relationship on her own terms; however, I wish they would have gotten to know each other better. I will definitely continue reading in the Adirondack Spirits Series.
