- Carol was born and raised in the Chicago area. After leaving home, she lived briefly in Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Nebraska before moving to Colorado where she has resided since 1970.
Before starting a family, she taught grades 1-8 in several different states.
While raising her children, Carol dabbled in freelance writing and photography, successfully publishing her work in magazines and local and regional newspapers. Her articles ranged from child rearing to financial investments.
As the children grew, Carol returned to school to earn her M.A. in educational psychology/gifted education. She utilized that degree by teaching magnet gifted classes in a school-within-a-school environment; working as a gifted education specialist; writing, speaking, and consulting in the field of gifted education; starting her own publication, Gifted Education Review; editing the journal, Understanding Our Gifted; writing Prufrock’s Gifted Child Information Blog; and authoring the book, Raising a Gifted Child: A Parenting Success Handbook (2009, Prufrock Press).
In her spare time, Carol likes to ski, bike, and golf. She also enjoys practicing the piano, reading, traveling, attending cultural events, and watching foreign movies.
