Givers and Takers - they are inexorably attracted and exploitive of each other. It is "mutual exploitation followed by mutual desperation". The authors provide analyses and prescriptions for change. Spoiler alert: Some behavior modification will occur.

I used this book back in 2002 and now I'm anal retentive but highly organized.

I've noticed over the last year or so that my life has gotten increasingly complex and decreasingly pleasurable. This revolves around having more but enjoying less - material goods not family and friends. As a result, I've been on a real "simplify your life" kick lately.

This was the fifth or sixth book I've read in the last 90 days on simplifying. Honestly, I was skeptical but the book was recommended in some review that I read somewhere. I was pleasantly surprised.

This book is very straightforward. There are 30 exercises (to be done over 30 days) aimed at simplifying your life. The first two are pretty bogus but they are for getting the reader in the correct mindset. Then, we step into simplification gently with things like organizing and reducing clutter in some of your "junk drawers". It progresses into more complex issues like your finances and work all the while explaining the process in adequate detail. These are excellent exercises for organizing and simplifying your life and household.

My wife and I put it to work almost immediately and made excellent progress the first weekend. I highly recommend it if you're looking to reduce the clutter in your life.
