i really love her music (and seeing her in concert about 11 years ago was still the best concert - that isn't one of those multimedia performances - i've ever seen) but this is not a good book. the very best parts of it were the musical interludes or the guitar riffing she did while reading sometimes. the book itself, though, here and there had some nice insight into the songs and why she wrote them or what she was going through when she did. but other than that, there wasn't anything to this. it was a weird spiritual message, which in the opening scene she shares is kickstarted by taking an enormous amount of marijuana. and how she was shown that the way to live is through love; the rest of the book is kind of her trying to do this. but other than this spiritual epiphany, there really wasn't anything in this book that wasn't in the tabloids or that someone with very cursory knowledge of her past wouldn't already know.

i was annoyed by the spiritual tone so maybe was put off by it from the get-go, but other than the music in the audio version, i don't really see value in this.

This was another book I picked up unexpectedly. Even more unexpectedly I could hardly put it down. Not that this is the best written autobiography ever but ME recalls her story in a very down-to-earth and engaging way - without really holding back on challenging memories.

What was also most interesting was that ME provides a lot of context to her music and many background stories to songs.

An excellent read.
