During black history month is would be a good book it talk about MLK, also an effective way to discuss segregation and awareness of what our elders have witnessed. Teaches to be bold, have a voice, and stand up for what the believe in regardless of the circumstances. Changes is not always easy and doing the right thing is also not easy and his story teaches students that no voice is too small.

This is a good book for fourth graders and higher grade levels.
The book is a personal narrative about a girl remembering the day Martin Luther King jr. died. She explains the sorrow and anger of the adults around her and how huge of an impact his life and death had on her community. This is a good book to use during black history month, when doing a lesson on historical figures, and for multicultural purposes.
This book is a non-fiction narrative.
