When I purchased a copy of this book I had assumed it was a narrative. I didn't flip through, and finally, two years later, got around to reading it, and realized I was mistaken. There are many women profiled in this book and each one gets between a few paragraphs and a couple of pages.

Each of the essays, because they are not written in one large narrative, is written by a different author, and the writing styles are vastly different. Some of the vignettes are written in the first person, some in the third, and many were dry. I skimmed over most of the stories, as they appeared to be written about personal friends or mentors of the authors who were, honestly, not that remarkable from the stories I read.

I was disappointed that the profile on astronaut Eileen Collins was so short! I was also disappointed to find that Emily Roebling was not included in this book.… (plus d'informations)
