I thought this book gave some good advice on managing menopause, from natural to hormonal to other techniques. I especially took note of the nutritional things that could be done. I try to avoid medications as much as possible. It's easy to read and understand. Each section had further resources, experts, phone numbers, and/or websites to possibly consult. I think this book is best suited for those who don't have a lot of contact with the OB/GYN, or don't have any close living female relatives who are older and have gone through this, already.

I had checked this book out of the library and then saw it at Costco, so I bought it. I've looked at it from time to time, but when my numbers got high, I got serious and read almost all of it. It's a good resource if you have never known what sugar can do to you and how to make some good changes your life. The book was copyrighted in 2006, so there may be some scientific things that are out of date.

This book is very similar to the "Folk Remedy: 1001 home remedies ..." which I reviewed earlier, except that this one IS written by the editors of Prevention Magazine. It contains more health problems than the other book, and the advice is probably a little better. Overall, a harmless book.

I downloaded this small cookbook from Kindle when it was free for a short period. It offers a great selections of recipes using chicken that will appeal to many people. The recipes offer differing tastes because so many are influenced by International cuisines. The formatting on this Kindle version is much better than many books formatted for Kindle and offers photographs of many of the recipes.

Growing up, my mother had a copy of this book, and when I moved into my first home, she bought a copy for me. I have referred to this book many times for many things. It is so useful to have around. It covers everythiing from sunburn to shingles to jellyfish stings and everything in between. Some tips are just plain common sense or well-known remedies, but there is also alot of advice and tips that come in handy when you have tried everything you can think of. Very useful knowledge and easy to use...everything is in alphabetical order. Thanks mom!

Prevention Magazine has collected home remedies from their readers and put them in dictionary form alphabetically by condition. There are also comments by health professionals when a certain condition could be caused by something serious and a doctor should be seen. I myself use home remedies all the time and have had some luck with them. It is always interesting to learn more that I might need to use some day. Some of the treatments can be thought of as beauty treatments, such as getting rid of wrinkles, varicose veins, and losing weight.

Great info to have around. Books like this are probably becoming obsolete since you can look up things on the internet. But for some older people I know the printed word somehow seems more reliable that the internet.

This reference book contains several sections. One about the vitamins and herbal supplements, another in alphabetical order by condition with a description of possible therapies and warnings about interactions with drugs and some material to teach you about a healthy lifestyle through questions. Compiled by Prevention Magazine staff, a periodical known for its content on alternative health information.

I am skeptical of home remedies so I admit that I am not favorably disposed toward this book. But it does have a lot of common sense, basic ideas, some little more than reasonable first aid. Just don't let this book substitute for real medical treatment.½

From book: This book is intended as a reference volume only, not as a medical manual. The information here is designed to help you make informed decisions about your health. It is not a substitute for any treatment that may have been prescribed by your doctor. If you suspect that you have a medical problem, we urge you to seek competent medical help........What common fruit can help prevent cataracts? Which drug really works when it comes to battling migraines? Can vitamin supplements actually give you more engergy? .....These questions and hundreds of others are answered in The Complete Book of Natural and Mecidinal Cures. It's like having four books in one: Healing Foods, Herbal Remedies, Vitamins and Minerals and Medications.
