Eh. It is a quick read and there is some information to be gleaned from this. There is some stuff I don't agree with and some of it I strongly disagree with. Still, there are some thoughts and ideas which can direct ministry and discipleship. If you are interested I suggest reading it critically. I, at least, cannot accept everything they suggest at face value.

I read this book two years ago and have picked it up again as I read Paul Nixon's "I Refuse to Lead a Dying Church." Both challenge traditional assumptions about ministry in a mainline parish and in their own ways point the away from a ministry that is about "shop-keeping" and preserving the church for its own sake toward a God-driven missional kind of parish ministry. Highly recommended.

Throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Forget ministry: it's all about pandering to the ever-changing pop-cultural tastes of your potential congregation!
