This makes a great story to read to children. It isn't fictional, it's full of information and the illustrations are really fine. It took the fear of crickets away from my children and made them interesting.

This book is about all the states trees and what is important about them. It also explains what the trees look like and what some of them are used for. For example, the Douglas Fir is the state tree in Oregon and it is used to make railroads because of its strength.

The illustrations are made in pencil and really do a great job showing the reader what the trees look like, or at least give an idea. It would be nice if they were done in colored pencil.

Reading Level: Intermediate
