But it's the fact that Barbie can look beyond the outer covers to connect with Jake that feels real and true. I connected to the character's journey. Once again, Mrs. Flynn takes us on a journey where all is not black and white. The story unfolds in its due time. Each turn of the chapter gives you deeper hope for their HEA.
So a couple of things... 1) Why did it take me so long to finish? I got caught up in the world of alpha/beta reading so reading for enjoyment took a pause. That should speak to the testament of Beth's writing. Never complicated or obtuse where I'd get lost if I let it sit for a few days. For me, this just prolonged my time in Pumpkin Rest which it was like coming home.
2) Yes, it's a seasoned romance - but don't let this deter you. If you are seasoned yourself, it gives you the satisfaction that "yes, we are not dead yet in the fourth quarter of our lives". If you are younger, gives you the insight you won't be dead when you are over 40.
3) I didn't put it in the MC shelf. Well, because it touches on it but not heavily into the world. I know reader friends who have shied away from my recommendation of her past books because of no interest in the trope. But NOW you have a chance to read the brilliance of Beth's writing.
This is on KU so pick it up to read right away. Don't KU? Buy it anyhow.… (plus d'informations)
