This is a fine examination of the guts of the Maginot Line system and doesn't just illustrated the mechanisms of the forts, but the command and control systems that tied the forts together, all illustrating that, in general, the French investment in concrete and steel was justified. That the French army chose to make their ill-advised advance into Belgium is a commentary on desperation and wishful thinking.
