The Barefoot Doctor

Started to reread this whimsical guide to Taoism. I know, the Tao that can be written about is not the eternal Tao. Feel as if I have outgrown it.

This book was one of the key influences in getting me into complementary therapies. In particular anything taoist. I love this book, its fun easy style and the explanation of taoist practices which in other books come over more than a little dry.

The memoir of a New Age seeker/martial artist, the stories were amazing but also weird and creepy. While the book stretched the realm of possibility it just wasn't inspiring to me; maybe I'm just not far enough along the path but I didn't enjoy this book even though it was well written and interesting if you like the bizarre. If you are deeply into New Age beliefs this might be the book for you; as for me I'd give it a pass.

Barefoot Doctor at his best - if you are interested in visualisation and meditation then this is a must read for you. Recommend you read it through once and then work through again on the sections that interest you.
