Chilling and Suspenseful!
Iris and her son Finn has been on the run for a reason that isn’t revealed to the readers until the second half of this book. She is taking over a B&B of her friends cabin and she tells herself she will be safe here.
The police, think she is a crazy person, wasting their time with constant calls panicking someone is attempting to break in her place. What is her story and is she even believable?

I loved how the author slowly built this story up, shielding the reader, from the past to make it a whirlwind fast paced twisted ending. Page-turner!

This was the first I’ve read from this author but I will definitely be reading more.

Thank you for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Iris in the Dark I'd a moving and suspenseful story with some romance. Iris is an interesting character she's finally found some light and now a past she isn't proud of is coming back to haunt her. She's strong and that's one of the reasons I enjoyed her character. I also enjoyed the creepy factor that the book gives off. There were a few slower moments but over all the pace was pretty steady. There were a few twists some were predictableandsome weren't. Overall I enjoyed the story its a character driven story so I was pretty invested in seeing how everything turned out for her!

We are all living on the edge of a cliff without even knowing it, and one fragile movement can push us over the edge or pull us to safety.

Elissa Grossell Dickey's debut novel, The Speed of Light is a trip through quantum space. Beginning with Simone's suspicion that something is very wrong with her body, the novel hurtles back and forth following her diagnosis to a spiritually eye-opening end.

The author's clear prose highlights the lifequaking emotions Simone, her bestie Nikkie, and her family and co-workers experience as a totally unexpected plot unfolds.

I loved the strong relationships between the women, including Nikkie and her girlfriend Claudia, with Simone. As well, the growth and bonding between Simone's boyfriend, Connor and her Dad and brother.

Most of all, the author spoke to the heart of having a chronic illness and how many ways it impacted Simone's decisions, relationships and work environment. Her braveness in writing from her own experiences shines like a lantern in the dark.

And, what a plot! I was truly kept guessing until the very end as to the resolution of the intertwined stories. Nay, kept on the edge of my couch!

The Speed of Light is entertaining, exciting, philosophical and deeply spiritual. This truly deserves a five star rating.

This is two stories in one - the immediate "shooter in the workplace" thriller and the backstory of Simone's life post being diagnosed with MS. The shooting storyline felt a bit cliche and there was very little explanation for why it was happening. But the back story and watching Simone come to terms with her life and learning to trust her love interest was great.
