Courte biographie
Edith Read (Barkowitz) Crouch, an author, glass artist and teacher, lives and works in Greensboro, North Carolina. She grew up in the Panama Canal Zone. Her undergraduate degree is in Art Education from Florida State University and she worked in corporate communications. Her first book, "The Mosaics of Louis Comfort Tiffany" was published by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. in 2009. "Tiffany Studios Techniques: Inspiration for Today's Artists" was published by Schiffer in 2011. She returned to her background in Panama to write about the textile art of the indigenous Kuna in "The Mola: Traditional Kuna Textile Art." In 2014, Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. published "Walker & Gillette, American Architects: From Classicism Through Modernism (1900s - 1950s). "Architecture of the Panama Canal Zone: Civic and Residential Structures & Townsites" was published in July, 2014. In this first book about the architecture of the Canal Zone, its unique legacy is examined through 20th century civic and residential structures. With over 1000 images and detailed text, major American architectural achievements are highlighted, as well as the townsites and military installations. In 2022, she edited and wrote entries for the book, "Al Sprague: His Life and Work".
