This book is a great introduction to the goblincore aesthetic and lifestyle (and it 100% confirmed my suspicion that I am, in fact, a goblin). It covers such important topics as spending time in nature, foraging for wild edibles, decorating your lair, and choosing (or making) clothing and accessories. It also includes fun projects like creating a moss garden, making mushroom spore prints, and needle felting a mushroom patch.

I love how inclusive, diverse, and accepting goblincore is, and I like how author Coyle includes suggestions for goblins who may not fit the typical goblin image - for example, those who live in desert or a city rather than a mossy forest, or those who prefer minimalism to clutter. Coyle describes how goblins have been perceived in popular culture (and even how they have been used as an antisemitic caricature) and how goblins can be embraced today as a positive image that celebrates dirt, diversity, and imperfection.

This is a fun book that includes a lot of different topics, so it is likely that some of those topics will not be as interesting to you as others (personally, I'm not interested in keeping a frog or a hermit crab as a pet [though I would consider a stick insect...]). I am very happy I found this book (I've read it through twice in the time I've had it out from the library), and I'd recommend it if you like mushrooms, plants, and cozy sweaters, and find it hard to walk by a pretty rock without picking it up.

Despite the description claiming anyone can be a goblin, there is a specific audience for this book, and that is definitely not me.
