The two 16 yo main characters (male and female) have their respective family's breaking up. A dual narrative in alternate chapters. Both seek the truth behind the break-ups - so young people being caught in the middle / narratives and sides associated with breakups.
This book has been short listed in the Children's Book Council of Australia awards for older readers. Honestly, the judges need to get in touch with what young people are reading. Whilst this book may have some literary value, it is sadly lacking in entertainment and exciting story line. I found the book It slow, dry and totally uninteresting.
This novel was heading toward a 4 star rating. Until the ending.
I really enjoyed the story of how Bri was coping with the difficulties in his life, his issues with his parents, his new job, and his newfound relationship with Emma. It was interesting and it felt true-to-life.
But this story ends abruptly at a climactic point and we are left hanging. It feels very unfinished. There is no conclusion. There is not even a hint of a conclusion. It just ends at a very strange point. It feels very unfinished.… (plus d'informations)
