This appears to be written for children. It is very light on historical context and significance, focussing rather on everyday life, food, play, etc. but even there is rather slight and superficial. I didn't like the inclusion of salacious and gory details, which look like an attempt to introduce sensational entertainment value. There is a useful 'Key dates in Roman history' inside the front cover.
