Pepper Keane is some kind of genius who has led many lives, as a JAG, as an attorney. He's got a beautiful girlfriend who lives in China and several other ladies who are queued up waiting just in case it doesn't work out with Jayne. Not only that, he lives in Nederland, Colorado, which is a beautiful place. I know because I've been there.

So first, he's hired by his attorney and friend to steal a blue tick coon hound for an attorney friend. He's happy to do so because it appears that this gorgeous specimen is being neglected by the owner, the head of the violent Sons of Satan, a motorcycle gang. But then, he ends up babysitting the wife of the dog's owner, a kind of trashy character who's most recent occupation was as a madam and who stole a pile of money when she left. Oh, and then the head of the gang hires Pepper to find his wife. And then the wife disappears.

And on and on it goes. It was a great romp. At times suspenseful and other times funny.

My only regret is that it appears that this is the last book Mr. Cohen has written. Too bad, I'd love to see more.

A breezy and enjoyable mystery, with an unexpected ending.

This is a great book. Pepper Keane is a former Marine, former federal prosecutor and current Private Investigator living near Boulder, Colorado.

When a local mathematics professor contacts him to look in to the deaths of three other mathematics professors, all of whom specialize in a very narrow field of mathematics called Fractal Geometry. At first glace they appear to be non-related incidents but as Pepper starts looking closer he finds some very disturbing information.

Pepper is an interesting character, with a cast of equally interesting friends and family. Right now there is only one other book in the series and I can't wait to read it.… (plus d'informations)
