*A Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this. This is my fair and unbiased review*

Hello Fellow Readers,

This book had a very intriguing premise, two best friends swear off romance and decide they were going to be platonic soulmates. It's been a while since I've read a book that focused on friendship rather than romance so I was very interesting but unfortunately this fell a little short for me. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the book both girls just came off as self absorbed and catty, like they were better than everyone this instantly just made me disliked them. I would have loved the book had I felt a connection of some sort to either main characters. Sophie in particular was really annoying and eventually I started to feel the same way towards Amanda.

Overall, a quick read that just didn't connect with me but may connect with you.

An intriguing premise but I can't say I loved the story. It didn't quite find its footing and so much was left on the table in terms of development. Wasted potential is perhaps a good way to put it.

Amanda and Sophie have been best buds for years. They both have had romantic relationship drama and they are sick of it. So they come up with an idea. From now on their priority is their friendship, and men will take more of a secondary role. Basically, they commit themselves to one another but not in a romantic way. (This a tricky one to explain, but the whole thing makes sense if you read the book.)

The story alternates between the two friends and unfortunately I never warmed up to Sophie. She came across as self-involved. Eventually, Amanda started to wear on my nerves as well. One issue for me was their humorous banter sometimes came across as catty, like they thought they were better than everyone else. The story itself isn't particularly strong but it would have helped a great deal if they were characters I wanted to root for.

On the plus side, it's a quick and light read. It's also refreshing the author chose to focus more on friendship rather than heavily on romance.

I won a free advance digital copy from Book Club Girl and Harper Collins Publishers. All thoughts expressed are my honest opinion.

Sunday errands mean a new audiobook for me. Looking through the Scribd app, I found this title and decided to give it a chance. Well, I know that I would have DNF it if it were a hardcopy book, but because it was an audiobook and listening to it at two times speed, I managed to finish it.
I struggled with how shallow the conversations between characters were, making it really hard to connect with them and a lack of development in the characters' stories. I felt there was too much telling vs. showing.… (plus d'informations)

This novel very much brought up emotions about my dead mom, absentee birth father, and the Engineer Who Got Away. When I read the acknowledgements on my 31st birthday, I lost it.
