This was a really cute story that teaches children to see the beauty in creation around them with gratitude and wonder.
A character doesn't see himself or his home as special, until his friend shows him just how miraculous he and his neighborhood are.

This would be an encouraging bedtime story or a story for kids learning to read.

Many thanks to the publisher for the complimentary e-book I received to review through Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and the thoughts above are my own.

Barry, a Bigfoot-style creature, is tired of being considered a "cuddle monster" by all the other creatures in the forest and constantly being petted, hugged, and so on by rabbits, skunks, birds, and more. He just wants some alone time now and then. How can he ever get it?

This a cute book that I could see being a nice readaloud with preschoolers and younger elementary school-age students. There's not really a message or anything, but it's amusing and the illustrations are really appealing.½

First sentence: It was Christmas Eve. Big Mouse was making cheese pies. Little Mouse was making paper chains. "Merry Christmas to us!" sang Little Mouse. "Big Mouse, can I decorate the tree now? Can I? Can I?

Premise/plot: Big Mouse and Little Mouse are celebrating Christmas together...until they aren't. Little Mouse slips off on his own to go gather some holly. This holly-gathering adventure has a little excitement in it.

My thoughts: This one--for whatever reason--reminded me of the delightful Brown Bear, Snow Bear by Joyce Dunbar. I enjoyed this one very much. It's a sweet and predictable little story to share with little ones. Mice are always cute and adorable in fiction books.

A very simplified version of the nativity story. There are also a few details that have no basis in the scripture, but may be a part of tradition.

Another perfect entry to the Bear Books by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman. This one is a little different as it doesn’t have the same cadence and rhyming pattern as the other bear books, but it is still there. I love all the books in this series.

Interactive fun read for young children. As you read a long little tots like to pull at the pages. The book describes all of the little critters one may find in the garden. Unfortunately you’ll be occupied making sure they book doesn’t get destroyed while reading.

Mouse is waiting by the river for her Special Friends. The clouds are drifting, The dragonflies are zipping by. Rabbit and Frog sit with Mouse while she waits. Turtle shares his picnic. The day slides quietly by as the friends sit together. Where are Mouse's Special Friends?

Review: This book tells the story of a bunny going on adventures with her friends. It has a positive message and teaches kids about the meaning of friendship.
Critique: I felt like this book fit the theme because of the talking animals and also because the types of talking animals and also because the types of animals in the bools wouldn't be "friends". They have a predator and prey relationship
Comment on use: I would use this book to teach the value of friendship and also to explain what it means to have different types of friends

We read Hands Off My Honey! quite a bit. My kids thought it was really funny and loved the suspenseful action. Mole was a definite favorite. The unexpected twist at the end makes it fun.

Pros: Everyone will enjoy this sweet story, funny characters, and an unexpected ending.

Do not give up. That was the main idea of this story that encourage ladybug to keep trying even after some failed attempts. The first thing I noticed were the illustrations, which were very colorful and filled the entire page. There was no empty space, which created a very visually appealing book. Like many other children’s books, this story also included interjections like “BANG” when Ladybug flew into some of her friends. This characteristic would help get a child interested in the book through dramatically expressing those words. The character was very well developed, because by the end I was rooting for Ladybug. I think the author accomplished this through showing Ladybug’s failures, and when she almost gave up. I also enjoyed the humor that the author used like in the end of the book when Ladybug was shown almost flying into a bear’s rear end. This would make any child laugh while also subtly sending them a message to never give up on their dreams. Overall, I enjoyed this story, and could see using it in my future classroom.

Title: Hands off My Honey!
Illustrated: Tim Warnes
Publisher: Tiger Press
2013
23 pages
Literary Genre: Picture Book
Summary: Bear says he's not going to share any of his honey but mole, brother rabbits, and mouse sneak up on him and end up talking him into letting him share with them.
I thought this book was good and would recommend it to younger kids. For some reason it reminded me of Winnie the Pooh.

Big Kid Reaction: This is a book that makes me wish I had a toddler again. The colors are bright, the illustrations simply presented, and the dotted lines on the page for Ladybug's wiggles make it fun to point and play with the story.

Pros: This brightly colored book brings readers and listeners along for the ride as Ladybug learns to fly. This is a fun, fast read that preschoolers are destined to "pretend read."

This book is just like the classic song Old Mcdonald Had a Farm. There is one baby pig who travels through the farm bugging the animals and casuing them to make sounds.

This book was animated book that described different sea creatures in a poetic fashion. On each page the characters would pop out of the book. the illustrations were amazing with vibrant colors. the silly shark seemed to be the students favorite when he poped out of the book.
my personal reaction to this book is very good, due to the fact that is the first book that my 11 month old actually sat in my lap and listened to. i can also relate to this book in a way because we have a salt water tank at our house and it is our favorite hobby.
for a my first classroom extension i would like to have the students make there own pop up books with some of their favorite animals. another idea would be to have the children paint with the bright colors in this book.
