Excellent. Chapter 3 is my favorite. I want to see more feminist talk about abortion with apology and as an explicitly and important feminist issue. #AbortionForever

This book came out the same year as my book about abortion activism and social media. Too bad we don’t know each other — could have had some productive collaborations.

This is a really good anti-capitalist look into why policies in the US are so anti-woman (anti-abortion, anti-birth control, anti-comprehensive sex ed, etc.). I had never thought about reproduction through this lens, and it really makes a lot of sense.

Capitalism is an unstable mechanism requiring positive feedback and "infinite" growth (I use scare quotes because infinite growth is not possible), and since women are having fewer children, rich people can't extract more money from the labor pool as they'd like to.

(An aside: Now that Covid-19 has caused interesting changes to the labor market, I'd like to see books published before 2020 include an afterword commenting on how things have changed, and if their theories are still supported by the new evidence.)
