I liked this book, but I did not love this book. I thought I would because it's the 1980s and I loved the '80s.

This is the story of Justine and Eve, two young women at a prestigious high school in Connecticut and all the quirky people that they meet. Justine struggles with financial matters (her parents don't send her enough money) while Eve is at the other end of the spectrum and has oodles of money. They form a fast friendship.

This is more character driven than plot driven. There is a lot of sex and drugs (again, it IS the 80s) but no real depth to any of the characters. Even the girls' parents (as well as the parents of some of their friends) were just as messed up. I really thought something was going to happen at the end but it just ended.… (plus d'informations)

It introduced a lot of issues and didn't digest them at all, there were weird time jumps, there was really no plot even though a lot of things happened, the characters all sucked, and there were certain WTF moments that sounded like they were taken from the script of an afterschool special written by a 12-year-old with no sense of physics. The writing itself wasn't terrible which is why it's two stars and not one.

I loved most of the book, but the ending felt a little unsatisfying. Realistic, though. I totally felt like I was back in that time.
