The author of this book is a volcanologist and photographer. The book includes beautiful photos of volcanoes around the world as well as land damage, craters, lakes, rivers and other structures created or destroyed by volcanic eruptions. The book begins with an explanation of how volcanoes are born, the structures of the earth, how tectonic plates move, and the difference between magma and lava. Each page gives a detailed explanation of how the photographer was able to take the images. This book also takes a look at the lives of those who live near or on the side of a volcano. I enjoyed the images of this book and I think my students will really love looking at this book while we study volcanoes.… (plus d'informations)

It's very difficult to see how this can legitimately be called 365 ways to save the earth when most of the suggestions after about a third of the way through the book are just endless repeats of what has already been said...in spite of the fact that there are many things that could actually have been added. The photographs are gorgeous, but again, there is a great deal of redundancy, we keep looking at the same spot on earth repeatedly.

A good children's book for any library. Lots of great pictures.
