Look, I’m not really a believer of the 10 years as just friends to lovers - but putting that aside, it’s a cozy lil romance in a small town with a cast of characters & a bunch of Xmas trees.

4.5 stars ⭐️ this book was everything and then some! I’ve been grumpy and unable to stomach most books I pick up, but this one, this one melted my little angry heart. Definitely worth it.

While it is a lovely, heartfelt story, the back and forth of the romance takes a bit too long. Did they ever really address why she snuck out in Maine? Once the crisis happens (80% in?), things tumble quickly to an easy resolution in Star’s Hollow, I mean Inglewyld (audiobook- sorry spelling!).

One issue though (and this is why I only gave 2 stars instead of 3)- authors (talking to you, white ones) REALLY need to choose their words carefully when trying to enable representation. Be consistent- if you keep drawing attention to FMC’s skin colour, why don’t you mention other characters’ skin colour? Checking off superficial boxes is not how representation works.

Audiobook is well done.

I’m bored. Layla’s instalust (after knowing Caleb for FIVE years) is a turn-off for me.

Tropes I hate are on the horizon so I’ll not waste any more time. DNFed at the beginning of Chapter 2.

AND….doesn’t he need a teaching credential?!!!!!!

I am so glad that I discovered Lovelight Farms and the town of Inglewild, and I hope that Borison changes her mind and writes more stories about other characters in the small town. Borison's characters grow and change over the four books, but remain true to themselves, even when the focus has moved on to another couple. My only complaint about this last installment is that Nova and Charlie's story is a bit too similar to Luka and Stella's story, but, again, it's Borison's characterizations that make this story a success. Even if Nova and Charlie's path is similar to Luka and Stella's, they are very different characters, and that makes all the difference. Borison has given us another warm and fuzzy (and steamy) love story. You probably won't want to have to leave Inglewild either.

FTC Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for this review.½

This was gooy, sticky and just sugar coated messy. To be in love with someone for so long and have the silliest excuse to finally give things a shot. Pasts are messy, which of course complicates the heart, but my goodness….. there are some things I would change because I’m stubborn, but for a debut novel the author pretty good.

Lovelight Farms
Lovelight, Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: Coincidence of timing and curiosity. The book was available and I had the time and interest.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: R Public Library
Dates Read: 12/4/23 - 12/6/23
Stars: 4.5
Narrator(s): Pippa Jayne

The Characters:

Stella Bloom
Luka Peters

The Story:

This is the sort of story that is right up my alley. I fell in love with these characters almost immediately. All of the vibes were just right. The farm, the found family, the unrequited love. It was immaculate. I can't wait to spend more time in this community.

The Random Thoughts:½

Stella Bloom's Christmas Tree farm is failing, and she desperately needs an influx of cash to keep it going, so she enters influencer, Evelyn St. James's contest in which she picks the best destination vacation, with the winner earning lots of free publicity and $100,000. On the application, Stella states that she owns the farm with her boyfriend, so she asks her best friend Luka Peters to participate in a fake relationship with her. This leads to many hijinks on the farm and the possibility that she and Luka might become more than friends.

Lovelight Farms is a sweet, cute romance with likable characters and a lighthearted plot. The story is told from Stella's point of view, and it is over-populated with inner monologues about why she and Luca shouldn't be together as more than friends. Also there isn't much of a payoff for the most in-depth conflict in the story between Stella and her father. The best part of the narrative is the camaraderie shared by the characters and the atmosphere of the town of Inglewild. Overall, Lovelight Farms is an extremely easy and fast paced read with nice characters and a lightweight plot.

Internet sensation, Evelyn St. James, should be happy but isn't, so she decides to take a break from her job and go back to the last place she remembers being happy, with Beckett Porter on Lovelight Farms. When the town of Inglewild conspires to bring Evie and Beckett back together, neither one seems too upset to be living together, even if it is temporary. Evie spends her days enjoying the little town and feeling better about herself, while Beckett dreads the moment when he knows she will leave and go back to her real life. Evie begins to realize though, that the happiness that she seeks may have been waiting in Inglewild all along.

In the Weeds is a cute story about two characters who are stuck in a moment in time and can't seem to move on. Beckett suffers from social anxiety and an extreme desire to help others, making it easy to classify him as a cinnamon roll hero. Evie is less likable due to some of her choices and a lack of self-awareness. Their relationship is very low key with some miscommunication and a slow burn romance, while the plot is a little thin and hard to follow in the beginning, especially if the previous book in the series, Lovelight Farms, isn't read first. Overall, however, In the Weeds is a light, entertaining romance that would make for an ideal summer read.

torn between a 3.5 and a 4. it was very charming, I loved the small town vibe and I looooved Stella and Luka. I thought this book would focus more around the contest with Evelyn, but Evelyn didn’t even show up until more than halfway through the book

Of the three books published in the Lovelight Farms series, this one is my favorite. I loved both Layla and Caleb. They were both loveable characters who had a hard time seeing their own worth. I loved how they worked together to learn that they deserved love for being just how they were and that they hadn't met their perfect match until they met each other. Loved it.

Stella’s Christmas tree farm is being sabotaged by person or persons unknown. She is in a world of hurt financially. She enters a contest, hoping the prize money will bail her out of her difficulties. But she thinks she needs a boyfriend to show how romantic her farm really is. She gets her best friend, Luka, to pretend to be her beau. And so, the story continues with the usual ups and downs. There is not much plot development, the characters are pretty much stereotypical, and readers will guess how it ends from the beginning. Stella has some problems emotionally. Luka is content to let things play out when he should be upfront about his feelings. The only saving grace in this story is Stella’s handyman/overseer who rescues a mama cat and her three kittens. There is a lot of profanity and sexual content in this chick-lit but not much substance.

A charming Christmas themed romance with a cute friends to lovers storyline. Steamy in parts and adorably awkward in others it was a perfect holiday read. It didn't have a huge amount of substance to it so I'd put it in the 'light and fluffy' category. I'll definitely continue with the series.

Having enjoyed book 1 I decided to jump into this sequel. This one was not for me. It was lacking somewhat in the plot department, and in the romance department as well. It was steamy but I didn't believe that there was anything other than physical attraction between the main characters. That is literally all they talked about. That's okay but not my kind of romance story. I want to be drawn into the romance and see it unfolding on the page and not just a couple of hundred pages of hot and heavy thoughts and deeds.

Not only was there a repeat of the distinctly unsexy bra strap snap, but it gets one upped with a panty waistband snap. Seriously, where the hell is the author learning about what is pleasurable in sex? Especially for a character who has a challenge getting to orgasm with a partner, which was done beautifully until the hero says "good girl". That's what sends her over the edge? There's nothing to indicate this would be a trigger for her. Ruined the whole thing.

Which again is a shame because the relationship was beautifully done. Layla acted like an ass but at least she knew she was acting like an ass. I really appreciated she wasn't trying to make her reaction noble in any way and just acknowledged she was a mess. I love her relationship with Ms Bea and Caleb was just adorable and way too good for the people judging his relationship. And the group hug! Lovely to see the continuation of the friendship between Stella, Luke, Beckett and Layla, as well as the town again helping out when one of theirs is in crisis.

I love this world and I will be sad to leave it after the final book next year.

Why does the writer think snapping a bra strap during sex is sexy? Completely ruined the sex scene for me.

Thankfully, the rest of the book is great. Beckett and his growing menagerie is hilarious (and serves a plot point!) and I love the connection he has with Evie. Evie's journey to find what is true for her now was relatable and well done. I really felt the longing these characters have for each other. And I'm sad that with the series ending we won't see Josie get her HEA. She's a great friend.

Now this is how you write a story when the heroine has suffered a loss and is afraid of losing her best friend. She holds herself back but isn't stupid about it. I could tell from the jump he was gently leading her into something more and she just needed to give herself over to it. In addition, there's a wonderful town with a fabulous cast of characters that populate the story and the farm itself is quite magical. Looking forward to Beckett's and Layla's stories.

This was a fun continuation of the Lovelight Farms series. This is Beckett and Evelyn's book. We met them in the first book. I liked this one but enjoyed the first book a little more. I wasn't a fan of the third act break up in this one. I'm still interested in this series and plan to read the next one.
