“I see someone I can’t believe I’ve found. Sometimes, I look at you and can’t believe you’re real.”

I love nothing more than a Peter Pan retelling I think I inhale them at every opportunity. This one was absolutely no different. I loved that the story just jumped right in to Belle who is super eccentric and obsessed with the Second Star and Peter Pan. Ava instantly becomes a totally likable character with an insane backstory. It doesn't take long at all before we are in Neverland... and one much different than most of us remember. Peter and the Lost Boys are all grown up now... Hook well he's just swoonworthy and morally gray all around. I really loved the direction Casey Bond went with this story. It really focused on an element that I don't think I have ever seen in the retellings I've read and that made it so enjoyable.

I think I read this book in like a two days. I didn't want to put it down because the story just kept giving all these amazing twists and turns that I didn't expect. The banter and tension between Ava and Hook is amazing. I wasn't even that mad that it was the world's slowest slow burn. Okay maybe I was a little bitter. But no like the storyline kept me so engrossed that it could have had zero romance at all and I would have still been dying to read it. I absolutely loved this book and Casey we need to talk about that ending my dear. You can't just give me a cliffhanger like that and not give me the second book immediately. However, because this was such an amazing story and a beautiful book I am willing to forgive you just this once.

Interesting concept
I liked it overall although I did feel the main romance was a bit too contrived and I wanted a bit more edge to the Lumin

This started out well and held my interest until near the end where it seemed to lose steam and focus. One other thing that bothered me was how frequently one of the characters smirked. This is a turnoff for me.
