I'm a sucker for books about books, but this is not the strongest in terms of plot. What is charming is having Brooklyn and Derick's parent meet and fall in love with each other. Brooklyn worries about what she thinks will be the uptight future in-laws meeting her hippy parents. As soon as it's clear that they will get along fine, there is the dead body Brooklyn finds in her local grocery store.
