Martha Bergland

A very interesting story. So many fine characters - lots to chew on and digest. I love her descriptions (A couple cuddled in bed form "a vase in the darkness"). This book is part of a trilogy and some characters are more developed in other books. I find this distracting ... I prefer one long book to three short volumes.

Too many thoughts and not enough action and forward motion for me to rate this any higher.

I loved this novel! I know nothing about the author. I find her style sparse yet tender. The story is so simple, and yet what she says about human nature and human interactions is so apt. I feel, as I read, that I am in good hands and can completely trust what the author offers.
