Having grown up in this world, this is a great insight on the mind of the genre. I think the author does a fair job of covering all sides, and allows his mind to be changed about things as he moves along. Great piece of journalism.

Incisive, humorous, sympathetic and frank is how I would describe Beaujon. A great read on a strange subject- a subculture of American Christendom. Beaujon- as an outsider- describes and dilates all the weirdness, dichotomies, tensions and "dissonance" that exists within the realm of the subculture.

"Christian" has been used as an adjective for sometime now, and in this case it is applied as a genre of music, mostly identified by the content of the lyrics- but more often so by its lack of depth and quality. Beaujon does a phenomenal job of documenting the identity crisis of many musicians within the field- "Christian as genre or meaning?"

Many interesting personalities and interviews.

I grew up in the world of Christian rock; I recognize many of the bands and people that the author speaks about, as well as many of the struggles that are described in the book. What would someone make of this book who is totally unfamiliar with the world of Christianity and Christian rock? I don't know. But I loved it. I admire Andrew Beaujon's honest, open minded and respectful approach as well as his thorough research. For me this is one of the most significant, enlightening books I've read for ages. I virtually gobbled it up.… (plus d'informations)

Beaujon, not a Christian, explores the strange subculture of Christian rock. A very interesting read for anyone who has any experience with the industry/genre; probably not too interesting for anyone else.
