From Junk Food to Joy Food: All the Foods You Love to Eat......Only Better by [Bauer, Joy].From Junk Food to Joy Food caught my attention because I am always on the lookout for meals that are good for me but yet don't taste that way. This book shows you how to do the exchanges, yet not feel deprived. The author, Joy Bauer, shows where there are hidden calories in the food that you choose. It also gives choices of foods that allow you to feel energized and healthy.

There are recipes from Chicken Parmesan to Key Lime Pie.

This book is very useful if you need to eat healthier but don't want to give up on comfort food. Each recipe gives the calories for the food we are used to eating and then the lower calorie equivalent.

I may have to get the hard copy of this book so I don't make my Kindle too messy while preparing the meals.

I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

A wide variety of recips for healthier versions of popular foods. The recipes are simple to follow and most of them seem like they'd be a great substitute. I have one complaint: Kale chips are not a substitute for delicious potato chips!

This book is fantastic! I’ve only tried out a couple of the recipes so far, but I love the concept: Losing weight, eating healthy foods, but not missing out on some of life’s finest treats – this book is a treasure!

Of course, replacing high-calorie, low-quality ingredients with low-calorie, high-quality foods in your daily cooking is not a new concept, but I love the way this book parallels the unhealthy, high-calorie dishes Americans may be used to cooking (including their calorie count) with low calorie, healthy alternatives of that same dish (including pictures of both versions). While comparing the pictures, the joy foods always look better – and after trying a few recipes, I find that the joy foods definitely feel better too!

Are.You. Kidding. Me.?

I would have to take a week or two off of work to plot out this eating plan despite the fact that she provides daily menus. The list of restrictions is harsh. Understandable, but a bit unrealistic. And dinner is always lettuce and a few carrots. Really? This book is dense and complex and you had better plan some dedicated study hall time just to put the plan in action.
