The interesting thing about How To Fly A Plane is that as a book, you're not quite sure what to make of it. Is it meant to be a coffee table edition? An introductory flight manual? It states in a disclaimer opposite the table of contents, "This book is not intended as an instruction manual and should not be treated as such. Learning to fly requires professional instruction at a properly accredited flight school." Then when you start reading, it jumps right in to an explanation of how flight works and the various stages of flight preparation, details of flight itself, post-flight requirements, all very quickly but efficiently covered before transitioning into descriptions and details about specific aircraft ranging from a training glider to a jumbo jet and everything in between. The whole thing is beautifully illustrated, which inclines one to believe that this is pretty much an ideal book for the waiting room of one of the flight schools the disclaimer directs readers to, as one imagines it might serve as an interesting diversion for pilots of either novice or veteran experience.
