A book of lists with commentary by Al Barkow.
There is a lot of good information in here. In fact, as a golfer even, there is more information than I would ever want. A good book for its genre.
Al Barkow writes from the perspective on one who has been around the game for most of his life.

2 stars

Golf as a sport has been around for hundreds of years, but in the last two hundred, it has taken on a majesty as the sport of gentlemen. It is a sport that can be engaged in for a lifetime by young and old alike. It is also a sport that lends itself to numbers and statistics. This is where Golf’s All-Time attempts to provide a statistical almanac.

Golf’s All-Time is basically a collection of statistics of golf’s history organized by tournament. It includes many of the typical fare – most majors, lowest score in the Masters, etc. But it also delves into the obscure – the first manual on how to caddy – as well as things that are purely the author’s opinion – best player to never win a major. The problem is, there really isn't much to Golf's All-Time other than a collection of facts and figures about golf records. Rather than putting any kind of story to the statistics to tie them together, this book reads like a collection of Wikipedia entries.

Golf’s All-Time may provide a concise – but not comprehensive – source of fun golf facts, but it doesn’t break any new ground or provide any insight into the game of golf. It isn’t something that you will sit down and read all the way through. A collection of interesting tidbits that fails to gel into any sort of cohesive whole.

The closest I have come to playing golf is at the mini-golf course and online, but ere is no denying I am fascinated with the game so I had to get my hands on this book. Author Al Barklow introduced the world to a new level of the game in this book that made me finally grab a club and hit the course for a birdie.

This books tells your everything you want to know about golf and then some more. Explore the history of the game while learning the dynamics of the US Open, the Masters and the PGA. Visit the world of women's golf and college golf, and if you wish to know about golfing equipments, ethics and the firsts, most and lasts of almost everything pertaining to golf, then you'll have to have to just read the book.… (plus d'informations)

Mr. Barkow has compiled a great reference book of golf factoids. I found myself skipping around rather than reading it straight through, but it's organized well so if specific information is desired there is a logical chapter for it. It will appeal to the zealot rather than the casual golf fan.
