It would be hard to explain why, but this little book has elicited about as much thought from me as any book I've ever read. It focuses on the Constitution as a text whose meaning is bound up in what the Constitution is, as a statement of intention of a group of people, including not just the Framers but we who consider ourselves bound by it. I cannot recommend this book too highly.
