Don Bajema

Don's writing is hard to describe, but I'll do my best. Mostly interrelated short stories that deal with a young man growing up and trying to find his way out of a turbulent past, teenager in the 1960s. The writing is packs a punch. OK, that description sucks.

Just get a copy and read it, but first read his first book "Boy in the Air".

I'm glad I got this book on Goodreads giveaway because I probably wouldn't buy it. The short stories have some good insights but I found them hard to follow. I'm sure Don Bajema has his fans but I'm not one of them. Although his writing is very good, I would prefer a more cohesive theme. And since the majority of the stories are about one character, why not tie them together into a novel.

The only reason I chose this book was because of the connection to Dave Eggers. I didn't realize until much later that he only illustrated the book. Kind of disappointing short stories.
