Andrew is a student working on his dissertation somewhere in the Middle East/North Africa when aliens attack. Andrew and his friend spend a few pages talking about how backward the people are, yet how great for research. Andrew and his friend are jerks and at this point I was hoping they'd both die in the first alien attack. Sadly, no, but Andrew's friend betrays what a super-jerk he is by abandoning Andrew. Luckily for Andrew, those backward savages he mocked are better people than him because one of them, Salim, rescues him. Meanwhile, Salim's nephew Yunus, fearing for his Uncle and the rest of the marketplace, picks up a bottle and frees his jinn, Jabal.

What I liked:
Yunus is so great. So is Salim. And their camel. The artwork on all of them--especially the camel--is delightful. I loved, loved, loved the panel of Yunus and Jabal face-to-face laughing at a joke about Yunus being Jabal's master.
The great alien warrior's secret.
The set-up for finding the rest of the jinn.

What I did not like:
Andrew. Other than being the white face telling the story he really had no purpose.
The aliens.
