Helena pretends she is a governess to go and work on an island for a family that owns the company her father worked for. The Cauldwell's are elusive - very rarely leaving the island and some of them have died in strange circumstances giving rise to talk of a curse amongst servants. When the head of the family is found dead, Helena starts to investigate and then there is another suspicious death....is something supernatural happening or is someone in the family up to no good?
