The title of this book is suggestive of a particular type of chastisement erotica, but this is quite misleading. The book is essentially a romance, and although it is certainly erotic, this would not be the main reason for it to be appreciated; the erotic scenes are titillation. The story concerns a very well-to-do Roman couple. She has fulfilled her child-bearing duties and he is inclined to discard her as insufficient for his erotic needs, seeking their resolution amongst the plentiful slave population. Although they agree to head their separate ways in this he discovers his jealousy whether she takes male or female lovers, and his dissatisfaction with his new lovers. Such scenes are treated lightly, however, including the corporal parts of the discipline indicated in the title. It's well written, and a fairly rapid read.… (plus d'informations)
