Oho! I won this next in series as audio in a giveaway!
A wedding, a new grandbaby, a kitten amongst the dogs, more house and other problems, a mother-in-law with advancing Alzheimer's, mourning, the vagaries of underfunded health systems, getting on with life. Another wonderful addition to the ongoing saga of the Albert's life in a rather remote part of Ireland with all its joys, frustrations, and more. Andy Stevenson is the narrator who has such a relaxed delivery that you come to think of him as the personification of Nick Albert. Loved it!… (plus d'informations)

The adventure continues! I have read the previous two but this one is every bit as much fun. There's still lots of work being done on the house and it is sooo challenging, but it is recorded in a way that encourages laughter. There is also the interesting interactions with the village folk as the Alberts continue learning more about village life and the joys(?) of living the rural life in Ireland. Reminds me of my sister and husband when they moved to a rather Amish area in central Wisconsin some years ago! And the dogs! Love his tales!
Andy Stevenson really adds good things to the audio interpretation.

Ireland, memoir, situational-humor, laugh-out-loud, verbal-humor, renovation, restoration*****

The first book pretty much covered the why and how of the husband and wife decision to change their lives by leaving job, family, friends, and England to move to a sustainable lifestyle in Ireland. In Book 2, the trials and triumphs of the DYI, Lesley's particular problems and new ventures, more chickens and dogs are detailed with the same self deprecating humor that makes it all so funny. I laughed my way through this one too! Loved it!
Andy Stevenson continues to be the perfect narrator for this hilarious series!

Ever tried home renovations? Ever moved out to a rural area? Either is crazy making. While reading this book I totally related it to my friends moving from the suburbs to upstate Nowheresville into a disaster of an old farmhouse solidly nestled into Amish country. Nearly the same problems including the dogs and chickens! Difference was that husband was adept and had only an ordinary sense of humor, and they remained in the same country. This family had so much more to adapt to, learn from, and laugh at! Reading this book is a laugh fest of the first order! He makes the most frustrating things hilarious! Absolutely loved it!
Paul Douglass has the perfect delivery in his narration and it feels like he is the author!
