Auteur de I Hear She's a Real Bitch
A propos de l'auteur
Jen Agg-the Toronto restaurateur behind The Black Hoof, Cocktail Bar, Rhum Corner, Agrikol, and Grey Gardens restaurants-is known for her frank, crystal-sharp, and often hilarious (OMG, manage their expectations) take on the restaurant industry and the world around her. In the last decade, she has afficher plus built an empire, tastemaking (Ugh-"taste-making") today's food trends long before they were considered fashionable (It's FOOD, not a DVF wrap dress). Tracing Jen's career from her early appreciation of a cocktail (Read: REAAAALLY liked drinking as a teen) to finding her groove as the one in charge in an industry so dominated by men (Like, so, so dominated), I Hear She's a Real Bitch is more than just a story about starting a restaurant-it is an unforgettable glimpse into the life of one of the most trailblazing voices of this moment. (Okay, that part's true). afficher moins

Her first restaurant was called the Hoof and specialized in charcuterie and cocktails. After some favourable reviews it became a place to go.
She talks about the challenges of being a woman in a male dominated industry, of being a good manager and a good boss. She has had to face many obstacles including a lack of respect by chefs, men in trades and her own staff. Because of this she’s had to be forceful and hence the title of the book. She is very competent, creative, caring and has become very successful in her metier.
Interesting book… (plus d'informations)
