- Judy Abrams was born Judit Grünfeld to a Jewish family in Budapest, Hungary. During the Nazi Occupation in World War II, she was separated from her parents and survived the war hidden as a Christian child. She emigrated to Canada in 1949 and later taught French at the U.N. International School in New York City. Her memoir Tenuous Threads was published in 2011 in the same volume as One of the Lucky Ones by Eva Felsenburg Marx, as part of The Azrieli Foundation Series of Holocaust Survivor Memoirs.
