Stunning up close and personal photographs of faces from different parts of the world. This picturebook for all ages, celebrates ageing and the stories behind our worn faces. Simple text accompanies black and white photographs. The end shows each person and their story in one paragraph, as well as information about the photographer who pastes these photos large scale on urban surfaces around the world.

Wrinkled faces from Havana, Cuba; Berlin, Germany; Istanbul, Turkey; Shanghai, China; and Los Angeles, U.S.A. are shown laughing, contemplating, and simply looking into the camera. I loved that this book shows wrinkles for what they are – proof of life, proof of joy and calm, of stories and secrets. Everyone has or will have wrinkles! This book would be an excellent addition to a lesson about photography or human development, a study of facial features, or an assignment to interview someone older than you.… (plus d'informations)

For “Women Are Heroes”, young French artist JR traveled to Sierra Leone, Liberia, Sudan, Kenya, Brazil, India and Cambodia to seek out women struggling in their everyday lives. Their pictures tell stories of violence, poverty, but also of a strong will to survive. Pasting mural-size portraits on the sides of buildings, on trains, and on bridges, JR brings a haunting human presence to harsh environments of social conflict. Paired with interviews, in which the women share their lives and dreams. A global art project, which generates a glimpse on reality offering outspokenly authentic respect for women. In English.

In Englisch.
