This is a biography that you can read in one sitting, two at the most. Not quite two hundred pages, Mr. Groneman, a retired fire captain for the New York City Fire Department, gave a fine spin on the life of David "Davy" Crockett. While it's not as in-depth as many biography and non-fiction fans may desire, it has certainly piqued my interest enough to go looking for longer accounts of the woodsy and never-at-a-loss-for-words Davy Crockett. It is easy enough to say that Mr. Crockett was the first American hero who was an every-man. He did not come from an aristocratic background, yet he made his way to Congress and gave those highly educated college boys some fine moments to hem, haw, and scratch their heads.

This would be a great companion read for Andrew Jackson's biography, which I'm going to attempt to read very soon.
