The most profound event in modern church history took place not in a cathedral but in a clapboard church in Los Angeles. A small congregation of African American worshipers embraced the concept that New Testament signs and wonders were still available in the early twentieth century. Not quite what I was expecting. I had hooked for more details on the original Azusa Street Reviva, but what was there was about what I had already read on Wikipedia. That being said the rest of the book was still good. In fact i read it more quickly than I have much non-fiction the last several years. The rest was about what happened since then, from the racial split in classical pentacostolism, to the global south growth of Christianity thru the spirit filled belueverd. The establishment of Charadmatics who chose to stay in their old Churches and renew them rather than leaving to form new ones.

What I found most mighty and surprising was Pope John Praying in the 20th century in 1-1-1901 & dedicating the new century to the holy spirit and man the latter rain came down. ( )

amazed at blatant misspellings, omissions, and mistakes... .... Repeated misspellings (not typos) such as "Wrigglesworth" for the famous guy named Smith Wigglesworth, a legend to the charismatic movement. ... and there's more I could add here to my comments later about errors / omissions, misspellings.... I'm just surprised that someone didn't carefully research it before they actually published it. Misspellings are an irritation to me; maybe they shouldn't bother me so much, but that's just the way I am. ... He says "Welch revival" for the famous revival in Wales when he means "WELSH" revival. ... ... There is one flat contradiction where he says something happened a certain way on page 62, then says the opposite on page 76. .... .... Other than stuff like that, I enjoyed it. ( )
