This book is about a curious cat who learns all about electricity from a wise bird. When Oscar accidentally turns on the windshield wipers in the tractor, he begins to wonder how electricity works in other places. The bird explains how electricity can be turned on and off, the different ways electricity is made, the dangers of electricity, and other places where electricity can be found. This book is a great way to introduce electricity to younger learners because it uses simple words and concepts in a story that is relatable and with objects that are recognizable. I would use this book in a unit about energy or electricity and students would enjoy seeing the interaction between Oscar and the bird. The next time they see the windshield wipers on, they'll know all about how they work. This book is about a cat asking a bird all about electricity. They are in a field on a tractor and Oscar is learning all about it from the bird, who is very knowledgable. I like this book because it has good pictures and is able to connect the idea of electricity to the pictures that it is showing. To use this in the classroom, I would read it while talking about electricity. I would use pages 14 and 15, which show a circuit, to create a circuit in real life. This way students would physically be able to see what happens when there is a break in the circuit. I could also use the electricity stick that Donna brought into class to show this! Oscar the cat takes a short trip to the yard and discovers electricity on the tractor. The Bird is his guide and teacher and provides Oscar with facts about electricity and shows him other forms of electricity. All illustration is cartoon, clear pictures with accurate details. No diversity in this book all characters are animals. Helpful facts to fuel a discussion with children about electricity and some open-ended questions. This is a picture book about a curious cat, and questions he has about electricity which his friend the bird explains to him. This book would be good for grades 1-3. It is extremely informative in a simplistic way about the ins and outs of electricity. I rated this book 5 out of 5 because the cat asks many questions that I can see children asking the same ones. The bird explains things in a simple way, and the pictures match up to help the understanding. At the end of the book it goes back over what was talked about in the book, and asks questions to the reader. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
