His adventures with the Bronze Barbarian/Marines in all four novels makes for one of the best military series... It's a modern Odyssey. I don't know if it'll still be told after two thousand years like the Odyssey, but it does have that kind of epic power. Enjoy! Rollicking good fun - military SF with a good twist of humour. Prince Roger returns home with a motley crew of assorted aliens to save the interstellar empire and his mother the empress from the evil usurpers. Since everybody, including his mother, originally thought that Roger was a useless playboy git, he has some persuasion to do. He needs local allies as well as his motley crew, who are busy setting up an ethnic restaurant as cover story. This is a later book in a series, but it stood alone well enough. I'll be looking out for the earlier ones, in which Prince Roger gets over being a useless playboy git and learns about toughness and loyalty and sword fighting and plasma cannons and stuff. There is rather too much of the battle techno-babble, in which we learn that the XKCD stardroidraptors can outmanoeuvre the HHGG Arcturan mega-battlecruisers at sublight speeds but only when running on their hyperblowwave engines with the antimatter polarity reversed. Or something like that. But that's a minor gripe; I skimmed those bits. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Weber and Ringo steal an appropriate phrase from Shakespeare for their title because there are very few of Prince Roger’s original company left by the time he gets back to Earth to rescue his mother from her kidnappers and restore peace to the empire. He must go undercover to prepare for his assault on the palace. He hides his allies in a Mardukian restaurant, which becomes a fad in exotic dining in the capital. We Few is a fun and fitting conclusion to this epic saga. 4 stars. ( )
